Goa Express
Goa Express

A year of wonderful changes but fewer and fewer magical moments in music. Dear reader, may you find these hidden gems delightful.

Goa Express — Everybody in the UK

Shake your tambourine to this summer smash hit. Fun sha la la indiepop that proves there still is sun shining somewhere. These lads need an LP quick.

Cats Miaow —Songs 94–98

Gloriously perfect pop songs like stolen kisses, short and sweet whilst no one looks on.

Barrie —Barbara

Not quite the expected second album but a beautiful solo record with exquisite love songs.

Florist — s\t

Soft and delicate as lace. Campfire songs that drone on and on into the night. Somber and beautiful throughout.

Yumi Zouma— Present Tense

Smash hits abound. Had such as fun time seeing this band in London in the scorching summer heat. They struggle to write a bad song.

Far Caspian — Ways to get out

Yes, there are Radio Dept vibes but despite that, this record is aces. Attempt is one of my favorite songs of the year.

Castle Beat — Half Life

The album cover really does say it all: Neon Palm Trees. Summer days on on sandy beaches and being a bit too drunk with the one you love.

Screen Prints — European Jeans

Proof that love can return. This band was a favorite circa 2000–2001 but vanished just as quickly. Decades pass and yet here is proof that class is permanent.

Codeine — Dessau

Guess this is the end…
